A bag of these old fashioned Christmas lights for 2$! I grungied the candles up with spices and re dipped them in wax to seal them.... This is now my favorite tree! :)

Got the plate, pine cone and greens for 1.50$!!!! Especially was thrilled about the plate. Happy Holidays!

Bathroom makeover FINALLY done!

Bad 90's wallpaper is GONE! ( see 2 posts ago) Took me a month or more but I finally finished a bathroom make over!

Lovely what a 23$ can of paint can do, huh???? So much work getting that paper off and the nasty thick coat of glue underneath! Ugh. With the boys keeping me busy and trying to do a garden this year it was a SLOW process but well worth it. I didn't even buy anything really besides the paint... Just did some rearranging  and probably will do a bit more ;) SIGH of relief. 

A flea market find!

For the weekend we went to Lake Okoboji for some family time on the DH side and had a lovely time with a Boat ride and some good food and just catching up... And BONUS they always have a huge outdoor flea market that time of year around the 4th. I only got a hour to "scan" millions of awesome antiques and vintage treasures and awesome barntiques but I did stumble upon this huge bowl. Atleast I haven't seen too many big ones in Iowa. She had the nicely cleaned up and polished gourds for 20$ and the bowl was marked 75$. I don't know much about pricing these things but usually I see the big ones for 100 to 150... Sometimes 200$. (granted there IS a small crack in the side). I asked her  if she'd throw the gourds in for free if I paid full price... End of the day and most booths were packing up ....I think that's why she caved! So I THINK I got a decent deal... Anyone know much about it? 

I did oil it and it made a wonderful dark tone come through ... It's got a wide rimmed edge and love the chopping marks in the bottom! I'm thinking throw some bittersweet around those gourds and I'm set for a fall centerpiece! Now if I can just convince the boys to not play with the gourds, yeah right!

A new creation!

I've Seen these prim "chandeliers" everywhere and thought HOW EASY and cute to make one! Well it was easy..... Finding the time to make/ paint/ sand/ distress and shop for the tart pans was the hard part! Now that its nice out a million projects need done on this acreage and crafting gets the back burner :( Hubby is coaching baseball so he's gone all the time and the yard work is awfully hard to get accomplished with 2 in diapers! ( yes... My oldest STILL hasn't mastered the #2 regardless of a few hosing down episodes ;) AND our grass has gone to seed in the back! BAD. Hopefully today it gets done. Til next time. - Elisha

Buh Bye Bad wall paper!

I got the OK from the hubby to strip these pink roses OFF! The steamer is heating up and I'm in need of a project during these rainy days stuck inside with the boys! ( ugh) The husband is coaching HS baseball this year and he will be pretty much NOT around so I told him I need a project to keep me "going" instead of having a pity party that he's not around to help with e boys. Good tactic huh? Haha. Having a project does really keep me in good spirits. hoping to have a finished farmhouse style bathroom when I'm done!

Finally finished a spring cross stitch

I mix and matched some freebie cross stitch patterns to make a little whisk broom cover. I stitched this while on the road driving down to Branson for our 4th year anniversary trip... Which was wonderful without the kiddos !!! ( first trip without them, so kinda rough to leave them but they did super) Kinda fun project for spring.

4 bucks well spent at the thrift store... I think!

I went to the thrift store today to drop off a box of junk and decided to peek in for any treasures. I took a dangerous risk and plunged into 3 huge Tupperware tubs of thrift store small kitchen items ...it was SOOO gross. Spatulas with food caked on them, measuring cups with debris, rusty knives and pokey kitchen forks. One can only imagine. I was LOOKING for 2 tiny tin tart pans for this very prim light project I'm making and hoped to find some In there. NO LUCK.... But I found this tiny cute little sifter that was 50 cents and I just couldn't think of a use for it but couldn't pass him up... He works well , but he's so small how could you sift that much with him?! I couldn't pass up the tiny spoons either ... Thought I could use them in my creamer / sugar coffee set or something for dirt cheap. The flowers were in a modern container but I'm so glad they work well in my front door basket! Thought they looked so real for 2$. I dumped on the hand sanitizer following my "hunt" . :) Guess Ill keep searching for those tart tins.

makeover, lamp project, some thank you's and our "boogey"

I am way over due for a THANKYOU to Kendra at The Stone House Primitives for winning her cute giveaway..... The bowl of eggs on top of the scale and the notepad and pencil along with the extras she sent me of some waxed bunnies ( I'm horrified to say my boys broke the "rocker" bunny and I had to mend him together with some heat!). THANKYOU Kendra.... I have really been enjoying them this Spring?!?!?!? ( yeah... Not sure what it is its SNOWING right now!!!)

Also The apothecary is a makeover project.... I WISH I could upload the ugly before picture... Had 90's ducks and bunnies on it. Found it at a antique store and debated for Atleast 10 minutes on buying it because they wanted 20$. Yeah... I'm frugal. one from the store would cost me 50$ or more so I bought it and like how it turned out... Can't really tell in picture but it has a crackle finish to it that Was there and I didn't notice it until I painted it! ( bonus)

I made a tin colonial lamp with stuff I had around the house! A primitive place magazine , Kris did a tutorial on a old spring issue on how to make it And I always loved it but thought it looked like too much work. But I pulled it off ( minus the epoxy glue.... It didn't "set" and nothing would stick so I had to use teensy little screws!) My husband is completely in "awe" of what a freak he married these days! Haha. I'm a crafter and I can't get it out of my blood!

Had to add a picture of our "Boogey"...,we call him this because he's always got Bugars! LOL He's so laid back and care free about it snot...Opposite of our 3 yr old! he has been so fun these days.... Learning new words everyday and just such a happy boy... I totally baby him. He's about 18 months now and I feel like he's more of a little boy because he's so big! Kinda want another but scared that would put me over the edge of my sanity.... Boys are HARD work!!!!!

Also thanks to Pamela at Our Pioneer Homestead for the clock face printable!!!! And tutorial on how to remove the glass on the scale.... It was very vintage and I wanted a "older" look!

Hope spring decides to stick around I have way more projects I need to do!!!! -Elisha
